Week 14 Recap

Tuesday, December 9, 2008 20:59

Oh where do I even begin with this week ? I need to posint out 2 teams that seriously made me ask myself  Did you forget to play this week ?.  First off is the Jets played San Francisco. I am not sure exactly what happened but this sure didn’t look like the Jets who beat the Titans who were until they beat them were undefeated. One of the biggest problems they had in this game was penalties which they had 8 of sof ar this year the Jets are 0-3 on the West Coast.

Next we have the Giants who played the Eagles this week now I don’t know if they were still thinking about the Plaxico incident or if they figured the Eagles weren’t going to be a problem but either way they ended up losing the game. The one problem the Giants had in this game was they couldn’t stop Brian Westbrook. Next week doesn’t get any easier they face the Cowboys who are coming off a loss of their own against the Steelers.

I did ok with my picks this week I went 10 of 16 would have done alot better had it not been for the Giant, Jets, Cowboys & a few other teams

Sean Avery & The NHL

As I was listening to ESPN the other day they were talking about how Sean Avery has pretty much opened up his mouth & said something he shouldn’t have which ended up getting him suspended for what the commissioner of the NHL Gary Bettman called “ inappropriate public comments, not pertaining to the game”. I was obviously dying to know what was said so I went searching & thanks to the lovely world wide web I found it To quote him exactly he said “I’m really happy to be back in Calgary. I love Canada,” an unprovoked Avery told the gathered reporters. “I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds.” Gee is he bitter that his exes found other people ?

Wow all I can say is that was extremely disgusting what came out of his mouth to say the least. I guess he did it just to get something going to hype up the game not thinking that it was going to get him in trouble with not only his team but with the Commissioner of the NHL. I guess this isn’t Avery’s first time opening his mouth or doing something stupid. A lot of sports writers & fans are in an uproar over what happened. They aren’t mad over what he said but because he was suspended. So tell me do you think the commissioner overstepped his boundaries ?

What Was He Thinking??

That is the first question I asked when I read about Plaxico Burress latest incident. When I first read the headline I thought he was shot by someone else then as I continued reading I found out he in fact was the one who shot himself in the right thigh. Obviously I am sure everyones first question is why did he have a gun with him in the first place which I would love to know the answer to but we will probably never find out.  I find it interesting that Burress was nursing a hamstring injury that was due to keep him out of the game today but yet he was well enough to go out & party it up well I guess we can all agree that his hamstring is the least of his worries at this moment.

With all the gun related deaths in the NFL in the past few years including Darrent Williams & Sean Taylor you think these players would be more careful about who they associate with and what they do. Granted Plaxico only ended up shooting himself in the thigh but what would have happened had he ended up accidentally shooting an innocent bystander his career could have all been gone with one shot going off & hitting someone. As of the time the article I read online was published according to the time stamp it says 3 hours ago the cops had not talked to Burress or collected the gun. What pisses me off about this is had this been your average Joe the cops would have been all over him from the beginning heck they probably would have interrogated him in the hospital but yes Plaxico gets to walk out of there with out so much as talking to a police officer but I guess that is what happens when your a pro athlete. I can’t wait to see the outcome of this & what the NFL does about this.

Ocho Cinco & The Bengals

I tuned into the football game yesterday & founalsd out that the Bengals had deactivated Chad Ocho Cinco & they sent him from Penn back to Ohio. Of course the rumors started swirling as to what actually happen. I was watching NFL Network(best 5.00 I ever spent) & Deion Sanders said they even though the coach won’t say what happen someone from the team told him(Deion) that Chad came into a meeting late put his head against the wall & closed his eyes. A coach told him to sit up and open his eyes. From there the details seem to vary some are saying he got up and left the meeting & got into a argument with one of the coaches and was told he was deactivated and told to go back to Ohio.

Another story that is going around pretty much starts out the same but instead of Chad leaving the meeting on his own he was asked to leave by one of the coaches. So who really knows what happen but I am guessing that the team rule he broke was being late to a meeting. I honestly have to say I think there is more behind this then him just being late to a meeting I mean come on things happen say he was in the bathroom or something then what. The Bengals coach Marvin Lewis wouldn’t comment on what exactly happen all he said was Chad would be fine & hopefully get his treatment and back to play the next game

I think it is time for the Bengals & Chad to go their separate ways. He was very vocal in the off season about wanting to be out Cincinnati I don’t know why they are holding on to him considering they both seem to be fed up with the other things are only going to get worse before they get better.

Football Tally For Week & Discussing The Cleveland Browns

I did fairly well this week actually. I went 12/16 it would have been even better had Seattle & Philadelphia won but hey I will take the 12 wins sadly I have been only getting about 7 a week. Here is hoping I keep going up

Well congratulations to Brady Quinn for this first win as a starting NFL QB he played a great game against the Bills. For those of you who saw the game you had to love the look of Oh S**t on this face when he threw the interception but thankfully they still came out with the win.  For the Browns to get better there are 2 important things they need to do 1. Tell Braylon Edwards to CATCH the freaking ball seriously he has had 13 dropped passes so far this year that is the most in the NFL right now & he also had the dubious honor of holding that same record last yr. He says he has been practicing with the machine that throws the balls but you would never be able to tell.  Secondly the Browns need to learn what the word tackle means because sorry but just pushing is not going to keep the player from getting pass you grab him , trip him hop on his back if you have to just keep him from advancing & running up the field for a touchdown. I am not a coach nor am I a player but I am just giving my 2 cents…

A hockey fan?

Years a go I was a huge hockey fan, NHL? Oh yeah!  I was a Leafs fan.  Not only is Toronto a great city, they had a NHL team to leave.

With Ed Belfour between the pipes and Tie Domi out there doing what he did best, besides enforcing, being a team player!

I’ve not watched a game recently.  Is there anyone here that can talk me in to watching again?

Good But Not Good Enough…

Even with Hasselbeck & Branch back on the field it wasn’t enough to get the Seahawks the win today. The interception in the end of the game was the nail in the coffin. In all Hasselbeck had three interceptions & the Seahawks turned the ball over four times. I feel bad for Mike Holmgren this is his last year with the Seahawks & they are having a bad season. The injuries are hurting them for one & Hasselbeck isn’t getting any younger. They need to seriously think about drafting a QB when the draft comes around because I am sorry but Seneca Wallace isn’t the future of the Seahawks & well neither is Charlie Fyre. I would be happy if they wouild at least pull out 5 wins this year. I can hope can’t I ?

Go Packers!

Those who know me will tell you that when you say football, I hear PACKERS!  I was not so much a fan of the Farve era.  There is just something about him.  Oh well, thats old news.

If you follow the games, you will know that today was another W.  37-3 over Chicago. YES!

I am not sure why, but, every win reminds me of this old piece of video footage where they won a Super Bowl and were carrying Vince around.  Priceless.

Who’s your favorite team?  How’d they do?
